TOON BOX
Maria Blondeel

OORtreders Festival 2024

In TOON BOX, Maria Blondeel works with an imaginary meridian line and the sun during the course of a day. Each time, Blondeel moves a sensor whose direction the sun shows her. Sometimes it is like plants that seek light and shade, according to their preference, in order to grow. In TOON BOX, the sound element responds to light in ‘real time’. A compact sound sequence runs synchronously with the changing light and is the result of it. It is also a rotation from day to night that will process the sonority into a faint ‘tic, tic, tic’, given the faint glow of the moon.
